Scatterbrain, can’t focus, always late. And yeah, some days it feels exactly like that. But here’s the thing nobody talks about: Hyperfocus.
That insane tunnel vision where the rest of the world disappears; and you’re deep inside a creative hole. I love it!
For me, Hyperfocus is about immersion and living it. The struggle for some of us, is how to control where that energy goes. You’ll hyper focus on something distracting like reorganising a drawer instead of shipping the client project.
How to turn it into an asset:
Pick your battles: Decide in advance what matters most. The client project, the launch, the marketing piece; whatever moves your business forward.
Set boundaries: Time-box your hyper focus sessions. If you go unrestrained, you’ll burn out or tunnel down the wrong rabbit hole.
Capture ideas: Hyperfocus brings all sorts of ideas. Keep a "car park" for them i.e. a notebook, app or voice memo so you don’t derail yourself from the task at hand.
Leverage your bursts: When you notice a hyper focus moment coming on, prep your most important work first. That energy is limited. Use it wisely.
The weirdest part is Hyperfocus makes you a machine of progress, but only when you channel it. It’s how you create your best work faster than most people even start.
